OLSS. JUNIOR CYCLE ASSESSMENT PLANS AVAILABLE

Following on from our decision last week to provide certainty for students and parents by announcing that we would organise school-based assessments for Junior Cycle students in May, a comprehensive plan of assessment has been emailed to 3rd yr parents and students. If anybody has not received the plan, please email info@ourladysbelmullet.ie

We welcome The Minister’s statement released today regarding the Junior Cycle assessment. which can be accessed below.

The Minister’s statement includes;

“Schools are also being given autonomy to decide whether to run school-based assessments and what form they take. Options to consider include school-designed examinations, tasks, projects, assignments, essay style questions, presentations, or other tasks agreed at a local level.”

Regarding; “whether to run school-based assessments”, for our students, we feel it is necessary to carry through the assessment plan that we have compiled in order, to uphold educational standards of our school, to maintain the integrity of the Junior Cycle and to appropriately reward the students for the learning they have achieved over the past 3 years.
