Our TY students have been busy..

Our TY students have been very busy over the last couple of weeks. Between Tidy Towns, St. Brigid’s Day, Pancake Tuesday and Dance workshops, they’re all go!!

Back in January our TY students embarked on their Tidy Towns trip around the locality, where they did great work tidying up the local area. The weather conditions weren’t great, but this didn’t stop them! They collected many bags of rubbish and did a great job cleaning up the local area.

They braved the weather again a couple of days later to go picking rushes in preparation for St. Brigid’s Day. In keeping with tradition and the religious ethos of our school, and with the help of their teachers, the students made the traditional St. Brigid’s Cross to celebrate the beginning of spring. It was also a significant way to mark 15 years since the foundation of our trustee CEIST. To celebrate Ceiliúradh CEIST our students made an impressive display at the entrance to the school and translated the CEIST values into the languages of the many nationalities of our pupils. Lá Fhéile Bríde Shona Daoibh!

and when they’re not picking litter or rushes, our TYs are DANCING!

Our TY students took part in a dance workshop with Amy from Dance Concepts Galway. The students enjoyed four hours of dance lessons and produced a wonderful show to the theme song from ‘The Greatest Showman’. Great fun was had by all.

On 1st March the TYs made their fellow students (and teachers) very happy when they organized a Pancake Tuesday fundraiser event in aid of ‘Jason’s Journey’. They were baking all morning and sold their pancakes at lunch time for the whole school. Well done to all on a very successful event.

The TYs are now looking forward to the next couple of action packed weeks which will see them Visit the Vermillion Engineers event in the Erris Coast Hotel, go on a trip to Castlebar for Tennis and Cinema, host their LIP SYNC battle event, cycle the greenway and much, much more.
